COUNCIL FOR NAEYC ACCREDITATION WILL HOST WEBINAR

The Council for NAEYC Accreditation will also host a Webinar on Thursday, April 17, 2008 from at 3:00-5:00 PM EDT / 12:00-2:00 PM PDT. The webinar will be for applicants who are considering serving on the Council. Applications are being sought for three up-coming vacancies. Responsibilities

  • Develop and approve the policies that govern NAEYC's early childhood program accreditation system
  • Monitor the NAEYC Academy's operations on behalf of the NAEYC Governing Board using performance standards for accountability
  • Oversee accreditation decisions
  • Recommend to the NAEYC Governing Board cooperative relationships with other accreditation systems
  • Review and revise NAEYC's early childhood accreditation performance criteria for approval by the NAEYC Governing Board

Eligibility/selection process

Open to any member submitting an application. Applications are reviewed for relevant knowledge, experience, and background in conjunction with the knowledge, skills, and backgrounds represented by members currently serving on the Council for NAEYC Accreditation. Council members serve for alternating 3-year terms. Applications are being sought for 3 up-coming vacancies. The NAEYC Governing Board approves all appointments to the Council.

Term of service: 3-year term beginning September 1. The Council for NAEYC Accreditation meets 3 times a year, usually in Washington, D.C. Additional meetings often are held during NAEYC's Annual Conference as well. Work between NAEYC Council meetings occurs primarily via e-mail and conference calls.
