NAEYC Launches Teaching Young Children
A New Magazine Targeted at Early Educators Nationwide

10,000 Copies of Quarterly Publication Distributed at Association’s National Conference

(Washington, DC) –- The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) has introduced a new quarterly magazine, Teaching Young Children.  The magazine is specifically designed for early education teachers.

“We are proud to offer this new learning tool for teachers and advocates of early childhood education,” said Mark R. Ginsberg, Ph. D., Executive Director of NAEYC.  “This publication has come about after years of feedback from educators, advocates and researchers for its need within our field. As we move forward with content development for this publication we will focus on the needs of young children and highlight the approaches and practices teachers can use to prepare them.”

Teaching Young Children is designed especially for classroom staff.  Every issue will highlight current thinking on the best practices in early childhood education, innovations in the field, research and its implications, and practical ideas from teachers nationwide.  Teachers can use these approaches on their own, and supervisors, staff development specialists, and teacher educators can use it as a tool for supporting further learning.

The association also launched a companion web site to promote the new magazine.  It can be accessed at: http://tyc.naeyc.org/.  The first issue of Teaching Young Children (TYC) is available nowthrough the NAEYC Online Store, www.naeyc.org/shoppingcart, or through our catalog.

“Teachers will enjoy this magazine because they will find ideas to use in their work with children and families,” said Derry Koralek, Journal Editor for NAEYC.  “Our goal is to publish a magazine that matches teachers’ interests and needs.”
