Reaccreditation FAQs

NAEYC understands that your program values its NAEYC Accreditation and wants to maintain it over time.  Your program can move seamlessly from one term of NAEYC Accreditation to the next if it meets reaccreditation deadlines established by the NAEYC Academy.  Review the following information to learn how and when to pursue reaccreditation. 


NAEYC Accreditation is valid for a five-year term.
 
 
There are specific submission deadlines for reaccreditation that currently accredited programs must meet in order to seamlessly transition into a new five-year accreditation term. These deadlines are published in the timeline for currently accredited programs. NAEYC recommends that programs begin planning for reaccreditation shortly after the third anniversary of their current NAEYC Accreditation. 
 
  • Programs that do NOT meet the timeline for currently accredited programs will experience a lapse in their NAEYC Accreditation.

 

  • Programs that meet the timeline for currently accredited programs will seamlessly transition from one NAEYC Accreditation term into the next.
 
 
 
The four steps to achieving NAEYC Accreditation are the same for programs pursuing reaccreditation that were accredited prior to September 16, 2006, and programs pursuing accreditation for the first time.  Read more if you are a program accredited after September 16, 2006 and are interested in pursuing reaccreditation. 
 
 
 
Please note that your program's pursuit of reaccreditation does not affect its current NAEYC Accreditation.  Annual Reports are still due on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th anniversaries of accreditation in order to maintain NAEYC Accreditation within the current term.
