Maintaining Candidacy Requirements

Programs accredited BEFORE September 2006 are not required to meet Candidacy requirements until they submit materials for Step 3: Candidacy as a part of reaccreditation.

Programs that have been accepted as Candidates for NAEYC Accreditation must meet and maintain Candidacy requirements during their program’s Candidacy. 
Programs accredited AFTER September 2006 must meet and maintain Candidacy requirements throughout their NAEYC Accreditation term. If programs fail to meet Candidacy requirements, additional verification may be required.
