"I dream that early childhood education in the United States becomes THE leading model for quality. I hope that all families will come together to make early childhood education a priority. The early years are the most important years for each child's learning and development."

Tell us about your work with young children:
I have taught children from birth to 6th grade for 10 years. Working with young children is the most rewarding thing I've accomplished. Every step of observing and being part of their development gives me joy and fulfillment. The energy and enthusiasm from the children really builds my confidence. Working with them keeps me grounded and reminds me that everything will be alright.
Why did you become an NAEYC member?
Aside from all the perks of being a NAEYC member, NAEYC helps me widen my horizon and hone my skills and potential as a professional working with young children. It also gives me an opportunity to develop my leadership skills through trainings, conferences and institutes. The resources that the organization provides professionals like myself are very useful.
What does your NAEYC membership mean to you? How has it impacted your career and influenced your work with young children?
Being part of the NAEYC family means a lot to me. The mission has so much integrity. Children are the hope of our future and investing in them is important.
NAEYC membership helps me feel that I what I do as I work diligently on behalf of children and their families has a genuine impact and influence.
What is your favorite NAEYC member benefit?
The network of members gives me the opportunity to learn from other professionals in the Early Childhood Education profession.
What is your dream for the future of early-childhood education?
I dream that early childhood education in the United States becomes THE leading model for quality. I hope that all families will come together to make early childhood education a priority. The early years are the most important years for each child's learning and development.
What is your favorite part of your job?
I am a Pre-K Teacher, a trainer, mentor, Child Development Associate Instructor and a CDA Professional Development Specialist. I love the fact that I am able to influence and share what I know with so many people.
What three accomplishments, personal and/or professional you are most proud of?
1. I graduated as MAGNA CUM LAUDE in a University in the Philippines and a was a consistent “A” student during my master's program at the University of the District of Columbia.
2. Both Bachelor's and Master's Degrees were obtained through scholarships.
3. I have inspired more than 500 children and counting to do better in school and in life. My first group of students still communicate with me and will receive their college degrees in about 2 years.
If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be? What would you want to discuss?
Currently, I would like to meet the District of Columbia Mayor Elect Muriel Bowser to discuss her plans for the District's Early Care and Education programs. I would like to tell her that Early Childhood Education is vital in solving society's problems, and that resources, time, and people-power in early education are important investments.
