About the Training-of-Trainers for Program Administrators

The Training-of-Trainers for Program Administrators session is a one-day overview of the five-module Developmentally Appropriate Practice: Training Program for Teaching Staff. It demonstrates how one of the modules should be presented to your teaching staff and provides opportunities for participants to understand the key messages of the training; the components of the training resources; and strategies for conducting workshops, supporting staff, and addressing challenges that might arise when they conduct the modules.

By participating in the session, you will be able to:

  • Identify the purpose, outcomes, and organization of the five modules
  • Identify the essential messages about DAP
  • Identify and use engaging facilitation strategies to train teachers
  • Use the modules to train teachers
  • Earn 1.0 CEU (additional fee & assessment required)

About the Training Program for Teaching Staff

Upon completion of the Training-of-Trainers session, program administrators and staff professional development specialists will be prepared to present the five-module Training Program for Teaching Staff. The five-module program provides an overview of developmentally appropriate practice (DAP), and is designed for teaching staff in center-and school-based programs for young children, ages 0 – 8. The training program includes information and activities to enhance staff’s understanding of the DAP core considerations, principles and guidelines; effective teaching practices; child assessment; relationships with families; and teaching strategies.

After completing this training, your staff will be able to:

  • Define DAP
  • Describe the guidelines for DAP: The “Mariner’s Star”
  • Identify the facets of the teacher’s role that promote children’s learning and development
  • Enable them to reach important goals
  • Apply the principles and guidelines of DAP in their work with young children and families

Cost per program

  • $299 for NAEYC members
  • $375 for Non-members
  • CEUs available for an additional $25 per training program

To conduct the five-module training program with your staff, you will need:

  • Computer with a DVD player, internet access, and speakers
  • LCD Projector
  • Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Windows Media Player
  • Adobe Reader
