Advanced programs are usually masters degree programs that deepen candidates understanding of and specialization in early childhood education. They may also be doctoral programs. Candidates in these programs typically have an early childhood license before entry into the program. NCATE requires that all programs preparing candidates to work in a preK – grade 12 setting submit a SPA report, regardless of whether the program leads to licensure.
