Become an NAEYC Peer Reviewer

Print Bookmark and Share

Peer reviewer applications are accepted year-round.  Qualified applicants will be invited to participate in NAEYC Reviewer training.

Initial and Advanced Degree Programs

NAEYC’s recognition system depends upon the commitment and professionalism of our peer reviewers. For initial and advanced programs, reviewers agree to participate in at least one annual cycle (spring or fall) each year. A team of 2-3 reviewers will read each program report, complete a draft recognition report. The team lead will post the final team report to the NCATE website. NAEYC then assigns a team of two auditors (experienced reviewers) to audit each team report. Finally, NCATE and NAEYC make any necessary technical edits to the Recognition Report before it is posted for the institution

Associate Degree Programs

NAEYC’s Early Childhood Associate Degree Accreditation process depends upon the commitment and professionalism of our peer reviewers. Reviewers agree to participate in at least one annual cycle (spring or fall) each year. A team of three reviewers will read a program’s self-study report in preparation for a site visit. Once the site visit is completed, the reviewers will complete a draft peer reviewer report. The team chair will post the final peer reviewer report to the NAEYC associate degree accreditation online community.  The final peer reviewer report is submitted to the NAEYC Commission on Early Childhood Associate Degree Accreditation.

Peer reviewer involvement is essential for NAEYC to establish associate degree accreditation as an important milestone for early childhood programs.
