Charlotte Teaching Team Featured on Cover of Teaching Young Children

NAEYC’s Teaching Young Children Celebrates and Supports the Work of Preschool Teachers

(Charlotte, NC) – Caley Chase and Gabby Moore, a preschool teaching team at the NAEYC-accredited Bright Horizons Early Education and Back Up Center at Carillon, are being recognized for their work by being featured on the cover of NAEYC’s Teaching Young Children (TYC).

“Caley and Gabby are a new teaching team that have found ways to bring the classroom alive,” said Program Director Margie Kelly. “Gabby has a strong science background and Caley brings with her the knowledge of how to prepare the children for kindergarten. This duo team really focuses on the children through their observations, and they help the children to gain knowledge by exploring and building on their interests.”

Chase and Moore are one of a series of excellent preschool educators chosen to be featured on the cover of TYC since the magazine’s debut in fall of 2007. TYC is distributed to 45,000 readers nationwide. Each issue provides useful, research-based ideas that preschool teachers can use in their work with children and families. TYC is also available in Spanish as Tesoros y Colores.

Chase, a recent graduate of Appalachian State University, says that she and her co-teacher each bring different strengths to their classroom of 3-, 4-, and 5-year olds. “I feel like we can share more with the children because they have two teachers to learn from,” she said.

Moore has known she wanted to be a teacher since she was seven years old. Before landing a job at Bright Horizons, she spent four years working for Mad Science, a company that provides hands-on and interactive science activities for children. She says she hopes to continue teaching preschoolers because she knows how important it is to give them a good foundation.
