At a summit sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and U.S. Department of Education for state and local grantees of federal children's programs, the Secretaries announced a newly established federal Early Learning Interagency Policy Board . NACCRRA RELEASES UPDATED REPORT ON THE HIGH COST OF CHILD CARE
It is well known, but worth re-stating, that the cost of child care is a significant portion of families budgets. According to NACCRRA's update, "The average center-based child care fees for an infant exceeded the average annual amount that families spent on food in every region of the United States. Monthly child care fees for two children at any age exceeded the median monthly rent cost, and were nearly as high, or even higher than, the average monthly mortgage payment in every state." The report is available at www.naccrra.org/publications/naccrra-publications/parents-and-the-high-cost-of-child-care.php
