NAEYC Statement on Violence Against Children
The Importance of Social Emotional Development and the Value of Educators
The horrific violence against children and educators in Newtown, CT is hard to take in. So is the recurring violence against children in many communities across this nation. NAEYC has published a statement on the events and the need for more attention to the social and emotional development of children, as well as the important role of educators in children’s lives that goes beyond academic mastery. You can read the statement here.
In addition, NAEYC has compiled online resources about coping with violence and tips for talking to young children. These resources are available here.
