Exciting News: President Signs Spending Bill with Huge Gains for Early Childhood
President Obama signed into law a bipartisan spending bill on Friday, January 17 for fiscal year 2014 with almost $1.5 billion increase in early childhood. For more details on how the bill will affect early childhood education, please view NAEYC’s previous alert highlighting the allocation of funds. But there is little time to rest ….the President will release his budget request for next year in early March. Stay tuned for updates and actions.
Coming Tomorrow: President’s State of the Union – Let’s Keep Early Childhood on the Agenda!
The State of the Union (aka SOTU) will be broadcasted on Tuesday, January 28 at 9:00 pm ET. We hope to hear about early childhood again. Last year, early childhood got significant attention in the speech, and we need to keep up the momentum this year!
