ALERT! Funding Vote on Voluntary Home Visiting in Senate on Monday
We are halfway there – now we need to get across the finish line.
The federal voluntary home visiting program will expire on September 30, 2014 unless Congress acts to extend the program and its funding. This week, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to extend the voluntary home visiting program through March 2015 at the current funding levels. It is part of an extension of what is known as the Medicare doctor payment “patch," "extender," or SGR.
Now we need you to contact your two U.S. Senators today and Monday morning to vote to extend the evidence-based, voluntary home visiting program in their version of the extender bill.
How to make the call:
Go here and put in your home zip code to find your two U.S. Senators. Click on their picture to find their office phone number in Washington, DC.
I am constituent. I urge you to vote YES on H.R. 4302 which includes an extension of the voluntary, evidence-based home visiting program and which passed the House by a voice vote on March 27. This program is voluntary, and helps families get their children a good start in life. When children have healthy development and learning from birth, we save money in more costly remediation later.
After you finish calling your first Senator, then call your second Senator with the same message.
