Voter Registration Information for State of Colorado


To register to vote in the State of Colorado, an individual must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be a citizen of the United States
  • Be a resident of Colorado and have lived in your current precinct at least 30 days before an election
  • Be at least 18 years old (by the date of the next election)
  • Are not serving a sentence (including parole) for a felony conviction

Must register to vote at least 29 days before the election. Can select or change party affiliation up to 29 days before the election.

Can register to vote in person or obtain a mail-in application from:
  • County Clerks' offices
  • Denver Election Commission
  • Drivers' License offices
  • Municipal Clerks' offices
  • Designated Public Assistance Agencies
  • Military Recruitment Offices
You can also obtain an online voter registration application. 
 
Absentee Voting:

Absentee Ballots may be obtained in person at the County Clerk's office until close of business on the Friday preceding Election Day.

Absentee Ballots will be mailed approximately 30 days prior to Election Day, or thereafter within 3 days of the county clerk receiving a request for an Absentee Ballot. If you wish to have an Absentee Ballot mailed to you, the application must be received by the County Clerk's office by close of business on Friday, the eleventh day preceding Election Day.

Absentee ballots that are returned by mail or in person must reach the County Clerk's office by 7:00 p.m. Election Day.
 
An absentee ballot application can also be found online.
 
Early voting is also available at designated early voting sites.  Contact your county clerk for information on dates and locations. This information can often be found on your county clerk’s website.
