Item #: 8013
Subject: Curriculum / Teaching
Ensuring the quality of children’s daily experiences in early childhood programs and promoting positive child outcomes is the heart of NAEYC’s Early Childhood Program Standards. Curriculum, assessment, and high-quality teaching represent critical areas that offer challenges to many programs in achieving excellence in early childhood education. The "Foundations for Excellence in Early Childhood Education" DVD program can assist early childhood educators—primarily teaching staff in center- and school-based programs for preschool children—to better understand the issues regarding curriculum, assessment, and high-quality teaching.
The DVD includes video presentations and print resources: A Guide for Individual and Facilitated Group Use of the DVD, PowerPoint slides and other handouts that accompany the video presentations, and Website addresses for additional resources. The presentations feature Juanita Copley, Jerlean Daniel, Deborah Leong, and Peter Pizzolongo—offering background information, recommendations, and depictions of concepts in action in preschool classrooms—designed to help early childhood educators connect theoretical concepts with real classroom situations. Aligned with NAEYC’s Early Childhood Program Standards and Accreditation Criteria.
