Green Hour, part of the National Wildlife Federation’s Be Out There campaign, was developed to inspire parents and children to spend at least an hour exploring and playing outdoors every day. The website includes outdoor activities ideas teachers can share with parents or adapt for the school setting.

National Geographic offers a wealth of information on the natural world and how people adapt to it. The Education section of the website offers maps, photo galleries, podcasts, world music, and free newsletters, while the Kids’ section offers videos, games, and stories.

National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) Early Years Blog Looking for some fresh science ideas for your preschool classroom? Check out this blog from the National Science Teachers Association. Blog posts offer activities, ideas, resources, and strategies for teaching science in the early childhood years.

National Wildlife Federation Kids offers environmental activities, games, and information for children and for adults to use with children, as well as online versions of the popular magazines Your Big Backyard, Wild Animal Baby, and Ranger Rick.

Whyzz.com Can animals smile? Why do bees make honey? Why does each country have a flag? Whyzz.com is a Web-based resource designed to help teachers and parents answer “why” questions like these in easy-to-understand, child-appropriate language. Topics covered include nature, science, the human body, animals, and more.
