Rain, Rain Activities

Print Bookmark and Share

Vocabulary Words

  • Introduce the words pitter-patter, drip, and squish.
Discussion Questions
  • Have a discussion about rain. Where does it come from? Why does it rain? What are thunder and lightning? Are they scary? Does rain ever hit you in the eye? Does it hurt? Can it harm you?
Physical/Musical Listening
  • Music, language, and movement come from both parts of the brain. By combining movement with language or music, children are using both sides of their brains.
  • After the children have learned the words, add rhythm instruments and body movement to accompany the song. Children can snap their fingers, tap their toes, shake their hips, tap sticks, or hit a drum.
