Celebrating the Week of the Young Child

The Children's Fair is held in conjunction with National Week of the Young Child, April 19 to 25, and is a project of the Tehama County Education Foundation. Each year, the event is popular with local children and families, as well as businesses, agencies, clubs and organizations throughout community that join share responsibility of ensuring the well-being of children and families.

The museum's celebration is inspired by The Week of the Young Child, an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the world's largest early childhood education association with nearly 100,000 members. The association established The Week of the Young Child in 1971 to raise awareness of the importance of children's early years, usually considered birth through 8 years old. "We hope that with more attention brought to the importance of learning and development in the early years, more children will have access to high-quality education and learning environments early on," said Kristina Gawrgy, a spokeswoman for the association.
