NAEYC's Annual Conference is the world’s largest gathering of early childhood professionals offering hundreds of engaging and informative sessions, poster displays, research panels, and more. We invite you to share your research, content expertise, and experience at the 2019 NAEYC Annual Conference.
NAEYC seeks proposals that address timely topics and current challenges faced by early childhood professionals. Proposals should be grounded in best practices, informed by research, support NAEYC’s mission, and meet the professional development needs of the conference’s core audiences. Based on the Annual Conference survey results:
Approximately 76% of attendees are experienced early childhood professionals with 11+ years in the field.
- 43% have more than 20 years experience
- 33% have 11-20 years experience
The top four positions held by our audience:
- 36% program directors/school administrators
- 29% teachers
- 17% consultants/trainers
- 14% college faculty
88% of attendees hold a bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral or other professional degree.

A breakdown of our attendees by age is shown below:
- Age 30 and under = 10%
- Ages 31-40 = 25%
- Ages 41-50 = 29%
- Ages 51-60 = 22%
- Age 61+ = 14%
NAEYC strives to incorporate diverse presenters and perspectives. As part of our Global Engagement efforts, we will continue the Grandes Comienzos and 良好開端 Good Start Special Language Tracks. Our Special Language Tracks provide access to Spanish and Mandarin sessions on topics concerning young children, their families, and many more issues surrounding early childhood education. We welcome presenters of different nationalities and varying levels of experience representing both individual experts and those representing institutions and organizations.
All proposals should reflect research and/or practical experience that is innovative, well-grounded, and consistent with the principles of effective adult learning in a conference setting. Proposals must be submitted online. NAEYC will inform you of your submission status regardless if the proposal is accepted or not via email in late May.
Submit a Proposal in English
Before you start a proposal, be sure that you are prepared to provide the information listed as follows:
- Presenter contact information
- Session topic (Click on "Topic Category" for complete list)
- Session length- 1.5 hours or 1.25 hours, 3 hours (scheduled on Wednesday), research poster session, and poster sessions
- Session title
- Summary of the proposal
- Learning outcomes of proposal
- Opportunities for linkage and application
- For research submissions only: State purpose, methods, results, and implications of the research. These proposals may be accepted as regular sessions or as research poster sessions.
- Presenter expertise
- Preferred room setup
Note: An individual's name should appear on only one proposal as the primary presenter. NAEYC is not responsible for scheduling conflicts that might arise if an individual's name appears on more than one accepted proposal. Each year we receive more 1.5 hour and 3 hour proposals than we can accept. If you are able to adapt to a poster format, please respond to this question asked in the proposal form. Most sessions are 1.5 hours in duration however, some 1.5 hour sessions may be 1.25 hours. Please consider the session length when submitting your proposal.
Audiovisual equipment: NAEYC will provide a standard audiovisual equipment setup which includes a screen, an LCD projector, and stand. One table microphone and one podium microphone will also be provided per session.
Any additional AV equipment is at the presenter's expense including sound patches, laptops, and internet. Additional equipment can be rented through our AV vendor.
If your proposal is selected, you may register for the conference at a special discounted rate. Details about the discounted presenter rate will be emailed to all those whose proposals are selected.

Submit a Proposal in Spanish or Mandarin
Grandes Comienzos - If you plan to submit a proposal for a session delivered partially or entirely in Spanish, you will be included in the Grandes Comienzos track. Select the Grandes Comienzos Spanish Language Track in Precis. See Submission Instructions in Spanish.
