Who We Are
NAEYC (the National Association for the Education of Young Children) is the world’s largest professional association advancing high-quality early childhood education for children from birth through age 8.
For 100 years, the early childhood education community has looked to NAEYC to define and uphold standards of quality. Our accreditation systems, position statements, workforce research, and policy leadership help set the national benchmark for early learning programs and professional practice. At the heart of that work are the educators. We provide practical resources, professional learning, and a trusted community that strengthens practice across early learning settings and amplifies educator voice.
Our members work across every corner of the early childhood field: in centers and homes, classrooms and communities, higher education and direct service. What they share is a commitment to the children and families they serve.
Why This Collaboration Makes Sense
First Book members serve some of the most important programs in America, where access to quality materials and professional support can change a child’s trajectory. NAEYC believes that the educators in those programs deserve the same professional community, resources, and recognition as any early childhood professional.
That’s why we’re proud to be connected to the First Book Network. Our organizations complement each other: First Book equips educators with resources. NAEYC equips educators with knowledge, community, and voice.
When both are in place, children benefit.
