Erin Donovan holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with endorsements in kindergarten and fine arts, as well as a minor in adapted physical education, and a master’s degree in Elementary Education with an early childhood focus, both from Ball State University. She is currently pursuing a graduate certificate in Reading Science from Mount St. Joseph University.
Throughout her career as an early childhood educator in PreK and Kindergarten, and now as a Professor of Early Childhood Education, Erin has been committed to creating high-quality, enriching learning environments for children.
Erin serves as the Early Childhood Education Statewide Lead Chair for Ivy Tech Community College in Indiana and co-chairs Indiana’s Transfer Single Articulation Pathway (TSAP) committee. She is also a governing board member and co-chair of the INAEYC Early Childhood Higher Education Forum and recently completed her term as a governor-appointed member of Indiana’s Early Learning Advisory Committee (ELAC).
Erin is actively involved in statewide initiatives to align the International Dyslexia Association's (IDA) Knowledge and Practice Standards within all K-3 teacher preparation programs in Indiana. She also serves as a Commissioner for Higher Education Teacher-Preparation Accreditation for the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and was previously a Peer Reviewer for many years.
Her professional goals include continuing her leadership in teacher education, both in Indiana and nationally, to support and mentor aspiring educators in becoming proficient and confident early educators. Erin enjoys traveling with her husband, photography, gardening, baking, and spending time with her family.
