Dr. Rebecca Brinks serves on the Early Childhood Higher Education Program Accreditation Commission. She has been involved in the program since its inception, first serving on the advisory board when it was formed, as a commissioner, as a Peer Reviewer and three times leading the Associate Degree Program at Grand Rapids Community College in Michigan where she worked through the process.
She has seen firsthand how the process can lead to program improvement and further collaboration and transfer between community colleges and universities and is committed to its continued success.
Rebecca had the honor of working at Grand Rapids Community College for 38 years. She began at the then Junior College Preschool helping to open the infant/toddler classrooms, moved to teaching full-time in the Child Development department and then served as the Program Director of the Education and Child Development Department.
During her time at GRCC she has had the pleasure of teaching many inspiring students, serving as a project manager on many community and state grants and collaborating with amazing faculty and partners to build the Fratzke Early Childhood Learning Laboratory on the GRCC campus.
Rebecca has four children, a son and a daughter-in-law and two fantastic grandchildren, all of whom she is very proud of. She lives near Lake Michigan and spends her time with her family both in the US and the UK, travels, reads, hangs out with her 93-year-old mother and her dog Quinn and continues to advocate for the Early Childhood field.
