Mark Day is the Chief Strategy & Growth Officer at NAEYC. Formerly the first Chief of Staff, Mark is an integral part of the Executive Team, leading initiatives to enhance the organization's reach and impact in the field. His responsibilities include overseeing Membership, Affiliate Relations, Marketing, Market Solutions, Customer Care, Conferences & Events, and Technology Innovation.
Throughout his career, Mark has been dedicated to supporting mission-driven organizations across the private, public, and non-profit sectors. Beginning as a Teach For America middle and high school science teacher in Philadelphia, he later advised clients globally on various issues at McKinsey & Company. Subsequently, Mark became Connecticut’s first Director of Performance Management & Strategic Planning at the Department of Education. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in refining and implementing the state’s accountability system, co-directing the overhaul of its Statewide Longitudinal Data System, and initiating a groundbreaking partnership to extend the school day and enhance student outcomes.
Mark's expertise lies at the intersection of education, technology, and the future of work. At EAB, he led the research, development, and launch of student-facing technologies for higher education institutions. Before joining NAEYC, he consulted with organizations to enhance support for students and educators through strategic planning, new business development, and digital transformation. Mark is dedicated to amplifying the collective voice of NAEYC's members and affiliates, advocating for the value of early learning, advancing equity, and promoting the early childhood education profession.
A graduate of the College of William and Mary with a bachelor’s degree in history and the University of Pennsylvania with a master’s degree in education, Mark currently resides in Washington, DC.
